Scholarships

This scholarship is for Vietnamese students at the University of Houston.

• Complete online application
• Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 per semester (on a 4.0 scale)
• Undergraduates must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours
• Graduates must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours
• Students must be in good academic standing
• Two short essays are required: In 250 words or less, please express how your Asian origin has helped or hindered your life so far; and what your aspirations are following graduation. Second, please share with us your participation regarding the following activities including degree of involvement.

This scholarship is for students in the Travis or Williamson County Area to attend the University of Houston.

This scholarship is for an active member and initiate of the Kappa Alpha Psi chapter and enrolled at Bauer College at the University of Houston.

This scholarship is for a student enrolled at the University of Houston.

• Undergraduates must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours
• Graduates must be enrolled for a minimum of 9 credit hours

• Two letters of recommendation (One academic and one other) 
• Two short essays are required: In one page, please tell us how will this scholarship assist you in fulfilling your major and career goals and inspire other students at the University of Houston? Second, submit a one-page biographical paper about yourself.

This scholarship is ONLY for freshmen students who graduated from an accredited Fort Bend County TX high school and are attending UH-Central Campus starting the fall semester following their high school graduation.

This scholarship is for outstanding Hispanic American students at the University of Houston main campus.

• Two short essays are required: In one page, please detail your academic and career goals, and explain how receiving the UH Hispanic Alumni Association Scholarship will support your journey. How do you envision making a meaningful contribution to the Hispanic community in the future. Second, Reflect on the importance of diversity and inclusion in higher education and the workforce. Provide examples of how you’ve promoted diversity and inclusion in your personal or professional life. How do you plan to continue this advocacy in the future?

 This scholarship is for a student that has faced a significant life challenge such as a loss of sibling, parent, guardian, victim/survivor of drunk/drugged driving, critical illness, disability or similar life changing event.

• Recipient must be a graduate of Fort Bend High School

Also discuss what receiving this scholarship would mean to you.

• Mark Andrew Tartaglio was a kind soul who shined a light on all who knew him. He was a loving son, caring brother and loyal friend who would go out of his way to give a helping hand. His great sense of humor made you laugh. He had the ability to turn a simple act into a fun game, to appreciate the little things in life and experience the joy in them. Spending time with family and friends was important to him. Mark Andrew enjoyed playing golf, competitive travel ice hockey, snowboarding and movies. After graduating from Stephen F Austin High School (Sugar Land, TX) in 2014 he enrolled in the University of Houston where he was majoring in Construction Management and became a member of the KA Fraternity. He was a 20-year-old sophomore at the University when his life was tragically cut short in April of 2016. Mark Andrew and his girlfriend were walking home on the sidewalk when a drunk driver went out of control, jumped the curb, and hit them. Mark Andrew’s last act was to push her out of the way and he is remembered as a hero for saving her life. The Mark Andrew Tartaglio Scholarship Endowment has been established in his memory.

This scholarship is for a diverse student studying Geosciences at the University of Houston.
