Events

Uh Day At The Capitol: Alumni Reception

Each legislative year UH students join with alumni, faculty, administration, and community supporters to travel to Austin, Texas to meet with legislators and their associates at the state Capitol. The goal of UH Day at the Capitol is to maximize funding for the University of Houston and the University of Houston System. We will be gathering at the Capitol again in 2025. Day Of Service
Austin Area Coogs are dedicated to giving back and turning Austin red! Your Austin group will be volunteering their time at the Central Texas Food Bank, coordinating a toy drive supporting Austin Police Blue Santa Program and have a group supporting Wreaths Across America at the Texas State Cemetery. It’s a great event that supports our fallen U.S. Veterans. Stay tuned for additional details and dates.

Football Watch Parties
Our first official watch party of the season will be on September 2nd against UTSA with additional watch parties for every UH football game. All watch parties are held at:

Waterloo Ice House

***PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT be holding a local watch party for the Baylor game on Saturday, November 4th. Along with the Alumni Association, we will be co-hosting the Alumni tailgate in Waco! We are excited to get on the road and support the team! Watch for additional details and mark your calendar for Waco!

Thirsty Thursday
We meet every first Thursday of the month at different locations around Austin. We occasionally have a guest speaker or special guest from campus. It’s a great way to connect and network with fellow alumni outside of watch parties. Details are always in our emails and promoted on our social media platforms, so be sure to follow us and sign up for emails.
Basketball Watch Parties
We love cheering on our Cougars on the court! We hold basketball watch parties for the larger games and look forward to March Madness! Watch our social media and emails for details.
Scholarships

We are excited to announce that we have set a goal to raise $25,000 so that we may endow a scholarship in the name of the Austin Area Alumni Group! This will allow us to grant an annual scholarship, in perpetuity, to an Austin area student attending the University of Houston. Please help us support our students in their goal of a debt-free education!

  • Donate directly to the Austin Alumni scholarship fund.
  • Bid on items in our auction. All proceeds will go towards funding our scholarship. Link coming shortly.
